Overview (Scope of Role)

The Product Manager – Engineered Solutions (North America) leads the product strategy and performance for PC/ABS Compounds and PMMA Resins in North America. This role is responsible for profitability, pricing execution, demand forecasting, and cross-functional alignment across Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to deliver on business objectives. The Product Manager plays a critical role in managing product lifecycle, supporting new product introductions, and driving the success of the Engineered Solutions portfolio.

Responsibilities

This is a key business role within the Engineered Solutions Business. The Product Manager owns the margin performance of their product lines and acts as a cross-functional leader to execute the commercial strategy. They are accountable for the demand forecast, pricing decisions, and product portfolio priorities, ensuring decisions are data-driven and aligned with market needs and internal capabilities:

  • Owns the product-level P&L levers including price, mix, and supply allocation
  • Leads the consensus demand forecast (volume and price) in collaboration with Sales and Demand Planning
  • Reviews and challenges forecast assumptions to ensure realism and market alignment
  • Tracks and explains forecast vs. actual performance; identifies and implements corrective actions
  • Defines and enforces pricing strategy, including setting price guidance and approving deal assumptions
  • Analyzes market dynamics and recommends strategic pricing actions to protect or grow margin
  • Leads product lifecycle management decisions including rationalization, repositioning, and growth strategy
  • Chairs the North America Engineered Solutions BMT, ensuring alignment across Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance
  • Sponsors and supports capital projects aligned with product and business strategy
  • Provides commercial leadership in new product development projects, including business case and go-to-market input
  • Supports the implementation of the Sustainability Roadmap for the Engineered Solutions portfolio
  • Partners with Finance on budgeting, variance analysis, and financial outlooks
  • Monitors industry trends and competitor activity to identify risks and opportunities
  • Supports execution of customer strategy in partnership with the regional Sales organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in engineering or chemistry)
  • 5+ years of experience in product management in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to Finance (e.g., controlling), Supply Chain strategy, and operations
  • Experience in the plastics or chemical manufacturing industry strongly preferred
  • Strong business acumen and leadership capabilities
  • Solid financial knowledge, especially P&L, cash flow, working capital, and investment cases
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing and supply chain operations
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of identifying cost and price improvement opportunities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Structured, decisive thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
