Overview (Scope of Role)

The Production Leader will be responsible for plant performance in the areas of safety, quality, and production for the Bristol Plant. Includes production coordination, personnel management, technical advising, procedure/policy compliance, and process safety support. Continuously drives improvements to the plant’s operations, equipment management, training, and procedures/policies.

Responsibilities

Responsible for establishing and meetings EHS, production, and quality goals for the plant and its operations personnel. Specific areas of responsibility include:

 

Safety/EHS (25%)

  • Supports full compliance of all Safety related regulatory requirements including OSHA, PSM, RMP, VPP and Company Policies and programs and ensures all safety policies / practices are followed
  • Participates in Management of Change process; ensures MOC and PSSR compliance.
  • Drives continuous improvement in EHS through behavior, process and mechanical improvements
  • Ensures timely investigations of all incidents within department; closes action items by target due dates.
  • Supports full environmental compliance and ensures that all best practices are followed.
  • Actively participates in the plant Safety Committee; drives behavior-based safety culture.
  • Supports safety programs by performing observations/audits and encourages all reports to participate in programs

 

Operations/Technical Support (50%)

 

  • Assists in management of the department budget including personnel costs, utilities, maintenance costs, etc.
  • Drives Operational Excellence activities; continuous improvement in processes, advanced trouble shooting, root cause analysis.
  • Participates in the production planning process.
  • Works with business team to meet order ship targets; support customer complaints resolution.
  • Meets inventory targets; supports inventory cycle counting.
  • Supports rate and yield optimization efforts
  • Leads coordination of events including shutdowns, production losses, quality or EHS.
  • Ensures corrective actions are implemented successfully.
  • Supports turnaround and routine maintenance planning activities.
  • Knowledgeable of raw material ordering patterns; works with supply chain to ensure raw materials are available.
  • Supports capital project development to improve EHS, quality, and/or throughput

 

Employee Relations (25%)

  • Professionally manages direct reports and provides performance feedback.
  • Ensures effective communication and engagement with plant hourly personnel.
  • Abides by terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement; properly responds to grievances; resolving differences with union leadership; contract negotiation team member.
  • Manage operations training and qualification process and salaried training requirements supporting operations.
  • Supports Loss Control policy, TIMS and OSHA management systems.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 10 years manufacturing experience, prefer chemical plant or refinery.
  • Experience managing in a union environment and PSM experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Exposure to SAP, sales & operations planning processes.
